A Day to Remember:  Our Whole-School Zoo Excursion

What an incredible day we had as the entire OLHC community embarked on a whole-school excursion to the zoo! For a small school like ours, this was a special opportunity -one that would be nearly impossible for larger schools. Having everyone together not only created an engaging and educational experience for our students but also helped strengthen the unique sense of community that makes OLHC so exceptional.

The day was filled with wonder as students explored the zoo, learned about the animals, and connected with their peers and teachers. This shared experience provided valuable learning opportunities and students will be bringing their newfound knowledge and inspiration back to the classroom to deepen their understanding of the natural world.

We are so fortunate to have such a welcoming and supportive community and it was heartening to see it shine through during this excursion. A huge thank you goes to the parents who generously gave up time from work to assist on the day. Your presence made all the difference and we couldn’t have done it without you!

A special acknowledgment also goes to Mrs Bisby, whose vision, planning and organisation made this day possible.

Days like these remind us how lucky we are to be part of a school where every student feels valued and connected. The joy, energy and enthusiasm shared by our students, staff and families truly made this a day to remember.

Thank you for being part of this remarkable community!

Master Plan for OLHC's Future

Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting with Wayne Hay, Team Leader for Infrastructure Policy and Strategy at Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS). Wayne visited our school to explore opportunities for refurbishing our buildings and discuss the creation of a comprehensive master plan for Our Lady Help of Christians.

For those unfamiliar, a master plan is a strategic roadmap for the future development of our school’s infrastructure. It considers the current condition of facilities, projected needs of our community, and ways to enhance learning spaces to support our students’ growth and wellbeing. A well-designed master plan ensures that any upgrades or new constructions align with our school’s vision and values, creating an inspiring and functional environment for years to come.

We have already started reaching out to architectural companies for quotes to develop this master plan. Our goal is to engage a firm by the end of the year, ensuring we can begin shaping a vision that meets the needs of our school community. This process will involve collaboration and input from various stakeholders, including staff, students, and families.

I look forward to sharing updates as this exciting journey unfolds and am confident that this master plan will pave the way for a vibrant and sustainable future for OLHC. Thank you for your continued support in making our school a place where our students can truly thrive.

Warm regards,
