SCHOOL OF WONDER
Happy Friday everyone, and wow, the Christmas break is almost upon us. It has been an incredible Term 4 with lots of exciting events still to come.
Please join us this Monday for the final assembly run by Kara and Emma as we celebrate our fabulous School of Wonder staff and students.
A reminder to families that Monday 16 December will be the colour fun day for our students, so please source a white or light coloured t-shirt. Further information will be on PAM to follow.
Enjoy this exciting edition and have a fantastic weekend.

View your child's learning
Students in Foundation to Year 4 are inviting their families to share in their learning on Wednesday 11 December at 2:30pm. Families are welcome to attend the college at this time to view their student's work. We hope you to see you there.
Foundation Transition Program
We were delighted to welcome our newest members of the St Anne’s College community for their first Foundation Transition Program session today.
The children who will join us in Foundation next year got their first chance to experience learning at St Anne’s College today as they begin their program which will take place over the next few weeks.
We’re looking forward to seeing the 2025 Foundation students over the coming weeks and witness their growth as they become ready to begin their schooling journey next year.
Foundation
Christmas Concert
The Foundation students have been practicing for the end of year Christmas Concert which will be held on Wednesday 4 December from 6pm (a Christmas Market will also be held from 5pm). The students have collaborated and voted on their costumes for the concert. As a group, they have decided that they can wear either all brown, all red, all black or all white (dresses, shorts and shirts or pants and top). We look forward to singing on stage for our families.
In Religious education we have been listening and responding to stories about The Birth of Jesus. We liked drawing our favourite part of the story.
We had fun making and decorating Christmas lanterns in Italian.
This week we have been exploring Lynley Dodd books. We collaborated in small groups to create our own book about Hairy Maclary.
Year 1/2
The Year 1/2 children had a wonderful time exploring the art exhibition at the college. It was a special experience for them to see their own artwork proudly displayed for all to admire.
In Religious Education, the children have begun engaging in Advent learning, focusing on preparing for the arrival of Jesus and deepening their understanding of the Christmas story.
Year 3/4
Christmas Concert
Children have enjoyed practising the songs for the Christmas Concert. They can not wait to perform.
Spelling
During spelling time, children work in small groups to practise and learn different word patterns. Groups complete different activities which could include word sorts, small group practise, look, say, cover, write check, words building and dictated sentences. These activities help children practise spelling, recognise patterns, and improve their writing skills.
Inquiry
Children have created scenarios that have a problem that needs to be solved by using a simple machine. Children have started to plan how they will construct their simple machines and what materials they will need.
Maths
Children have been exploring measurement. They’ve learned about different terms like length, width, and height, and have practised using both retractable tape measures and fabric tape measures, as well as rulers. Children have estimated and measured many different objects in the classroom.
SOW Visual Arts
Our students have been hard at work in Visual Arts, creating festive items for the upcoming Christmas Stall at our annual Christmas Concert. These handcrafted items will be available for purchase, with all proceeds going to support St Vincent de Paul, helping those in need within our community.
Reminders
- SOW Assembly: Monday 2 December, 2024
- Christmas Concert and Market: Wednesday 4 December, 2024

School drop off and pick up
Please support our staff, and remember that drop off for children is from 8:30am. This is when staff are on duty. Prior to this any staff onsite are preparing for the day ahead, duty of care requirements mean children onsite require supervision and doing this takes staff away from their important preparation time.
Collection from school: 3:15pm-3:30pm. This is when the North Yard is staffed. It is our duty of care from 3:30pm to relocate children still onsite into the admin entrance to await collection. After school is not a play time for down ball, sandpit, ball/running games etc.
Play after school should only take part with parent/carer supervision.
