From the Principal
Welcome
Dear Parents and Carers,
Year 12 Graduation
Our first ever Yr 12 Graduation Night was an outstanding success. The students not only looked fantastic, but the way they conducted themselves is a credit to the students, their families and St Anne’s College. The night began at school where family and friends were able to be part of the certificate presentation, before we all went to the Woolshed for speeches, awards and a three-course dinner. I would like to thank all the college staff involved with organising the event, it was a beautiful ceremony and evening.
Student Behaviour
I have no doubt, we all agree that focussed classrooms and respectful students are paramount in any school. At St Anne’s College, we have developed a new process to ensure all students, staff and families are clear in regards to behaviour management. I encourage all families to discuss the below process which explains the steps and consequences of inappropriate behaviour.
Year 12 Exams
Our Yr 12 exams are now fully completed. The students can now put their feet up and be content that they did their best. Well done again to staff, students and families. Please keep them in your prayers as they await their results.
School Structure
St Anne’s College is having some significant changes in 2025. ALL Sandhurst schools are implementing the new Magnify Learning and Teaching program. This new approach will bring significant changes in literacy, maths and science andteachers will be delivering an explicit, direct and consistent curriculum from Foundation to Yr 12. I am confident this will provide the students in our college with a first class education that will guide each and every student as they progress through the year levels.
The second major adjustment is the change from the current three school model to a Primary (F-6) and Secondary (7-12) structure. This will require some thought as we restructure our Primary students into the following grades for 2025:
Foundation (2 classes), Gr 1 (2 classes), Gr 2 (2 classes), Gr 3/4 (3 classes), Gr 5 (1 class) and Gr 6 (2 classes).
School Uniform
For 2025 Gr 5/6 students will continue to wear the St Anne’s academic uniform. This will be phased out over the next two years and will be replaced by the current School Of Wonder uniform. It has also been decided that there will be a special Gr 6 shirt for students. Parents/carers will receive more information about this soon.
Yr 8 & 9 Camps
Our Yr 8 camp at Harrietville and the Yr 9 trip to Anglesea have been great successes. Congratulations to the students on their excellent behaviour and a big thank you to the staff who attended.
Podcasts
I’d like to highly recommend the Hamish Blake podcast How Other Dad’s Dad. Not only is it very funny and entertaining, but also gives some wonderful insights on how to be a good parent. The most recent interview with Andy Griffiths (author) had some wonderful ideas on creating a love of reading with children which is such an important part of their development.
MacKillop Art Exhibition
The Sandhurst MacKillop Art Exhibition took place in Bendigo recently and it was wonderful to see St Anne’s College contribute so many pieces of artwork. Congratulations to Charlotte Seddon (Yr 11) and Bella Lahm (Gr 5) who received the Bishop Choice Awards for both the secondary and primary categories respectively and also to James Cirillo (Gr 1) for winning the Primary Spiritual Award. We have our fingers crossed for Jemma Daldy, Avaya De Stefanis and Guneet Kaur who have been nominated for the People's Choice Award, which is currently being voted on.
St Anne’s Art Exhibition
Congratulations to everyone involved in the St Anne’s College Art Exhibition. The quality of work was exceptional and is a testament to the hard work of our students and teachers! I’d like to thank our art team for organising the event and giving our students the opportunity to showcase their wonderful work.
Christmas Concert
Don’t forget to save the date for the St Anne’s Christmas Concert and Market on Wednesday 4 December from 5pm. It is going to be a great afternoon!
