Junior School
Junior School Step Up
Our two-week Step-Up program commences next week for Years 7-9 students on Tuesday 3rd December, continuing until Friday 13th December. Within that time, students will be placed in their 2025 Mentor Groups and classes and will have the opportunity to meet most of their 2025 teachers and gain insight into what they will be studying in each subject next year. Step Up has a focus on skill building and mastery to ensure student readiness for learning in 2025. Teachers will also take the opportunity to outline the key knowledge, skills and assessment tasks of each subject, and commence coursework.
Our 2025 Year Level Leaders are keen to get started with their new year level and will provide information and clarify expectations in Year Level assemblies. They will also be visiting classrooms as much as they can during Step Up to get to know the students they will be working with next year.
We encourage all students to make the most of the Step-Up program which is designed to support their transition from Yr 7 into Yr 8, Yr 8 into Year 9 and Yr 9 into Year 10. Proudly, our Yr 9s will have their first taste of Senior School and we wish them well.
As part of the program, Year 7 students (Yr 8 2025) will attend the much-anticipated excursion to Watergardens on Tuesday 10 December. This is also the time when we welcome our Yr 7 2025 students into the school community on their Orientation Day at the College.
Year 8 students (Yr 9 2025) will be participating in their first RAID day during Step-Up, with an excursion to Watergardens, with an added element of a scavenger hunt to build team-work. More information about the RAID program will be provided in Term 1, 2025.
In order to ensure your child can attend the end of year Watergardens excursion, permission & payment needs to be finalised on Xuno by Monday 9th December.
The Step-Up program ends with our annual Colour-Run on the College campus on Friday 13th December. We ask that students bring a suitable change of clothes and a towel for this event. The colour powder used in the event is non-toxic, biodegradable and environmentally friendly consisting of 98% corn starch and 2% food colouring. It will likely washout of your child’s clothing, however we recommend that your child wears a plain white shirt that you don’t mind being coloured.

2025 Subject Allocations
We are currently finalising 2025 subject allocations, and we anticipate the Step Up timetable will be uploaded to Xuno for students by Friday this week. This is when students will receive confirmation of their 2025 Mentor Groups and classes. We understand that students are feeling a lot of anticipation, and perhaps some nervousness, regarding this process. If any student has questions, we encourage them to drop into the Junior School Office to discuss these.
Finally, in the last week of school, Week 11, normal classes will be suspended Monday & Tuesday with teachers running alternative activities for students. Between Wednesday-Friday, families will have the opportunity to finalise parent payment contributions and complete any other necessary paperwork at the College.
As you can see, it will be a busy, but rewarding and fun end to the year.
