Instrumental Music Program

Workshops November 2024

For four weeks in November our Performing Arts department is moved out of their home to accommodate the year 12 exams. Working creatively, the instrumental music team take the opportunity to use the four weeks in band workshops, this year assembling 9 bands from the 56 enrolled instrumental music cohort. The bands were diverse and encompassed all ages and levels. My personal favourite was the group with students from year 7-11, who created a fantastic version of Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s new hit ‘Die With A Smile’ and the group of year 7 boys who absolutely smashed ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life). Many students have spoken to the staff about how much they’ve enjoyed the workshops, and the skills they have gained in the sessions. Thanks to our tutors, John Lacorcia, Dana Schulz, Gordon Graham and Cassandra Ivin for being flexible and engaging in the program so passionately.
