SRC Reflection

As we conclude our first year of implementing the Student Representative Council (SRC) at Good Shepherd, it is important to take a moment to congratulate our members and reflect on our successes.

The introduction of the SRC this year was a new and exciting initiative for both students and staff. Our goal was to give students a voice in school decision-making, empower them to take on leadership roles and foster a sense of responsibility.

One of the key successes of this first year was the level of enthusiasm and participation from our students! The SRC members showed a remarkable level of dedication, including giving up some play times, to help our school community.

One key initiative the SRC undertook this year was looking through the Child Safe Standards and re-wording them into more child-friendly language, to ensure everyone could understand them. The SRC also organised and ran playtime activities to ensure that all members of our school felt included at playtime. The students did a wonderful job at reporting concerns that their peers told them and ensured that they worked together to problem solve. Well done to our 2024 SRC members: Mackenzie, Jaime, Shania, Jin, Ellie, Milla, Megan, Anya, Lydia, Aashya, Joseph, Sahan, Keira and Maya.

We are looking forward to continuing the SRC at Good Shepherd next year and empowering our students to have a voice in decisions that affect them.
