Karen DeWilde's Farewell

Last Thursday, the entire school came together for a heartfelt farewell assembly to celebrate the incredible Karen DeWilde. Families were invited to join this special occasion, making it a memorable tribute to Karen’s outstanding contributions to our school community.

The assembly began with a lively and captivating performance by a group of students, who creatively highlighted Karen’s unique teaching style through humour, music, and storytelling. Their performance was a wonderful reflection of the energy, creativity, and inspiration Karen brought to her teaching, leaving the audience both laughing and reminiscing about her impact.

Following this, we enjoyed a series of video messages from former students, who shared their fond memories and gratitude for Karen’s guidance. A montage of photos then took everyone on a journey through Karen’s time at the school, showcasing her countless moments of dedication, joy, and leadership.

Adding to the celebration, the staff came together to perform a heartfelt song titled "We Will Miss You," expressing the deep respect and affection we all feel for Karen.

In a particularly special moment, Jacqui announced the creation of a new award: The Karen DeWilde Music Excellence Award. This honour will be presented annually at the Music Gala, with Karen herself awarding it to students who demonstrate the passion and excellence she has always championed.

To conclude the assembly, Karen was presented with a beautiful gift from our generous Parents and Friends (P&F) Association on behalf of the entire school community.

Karen DeWilde has left an indelible mark on our school, and this farewell assembly was a fitting tribute to her remarkable legacy. While we will miss her greatly, her influence will live on through the many lives she has touched and through the award that bears her name.
