Kitchen Garden

Grow, Harvest, Prepare, Share

Weeks 3&4 in the Kitchen…

A trip to Greece

Over the past two weeks, we have continued exploring various cuisines from around the world. Students have been busy preparing spanakopita (spinach and feta pie) and koulourakia (lemon cookies).

The spanakopita featured homemade filo pastry, which we had made in the kitchen for the last four weeks. We also harvested silverbeet, spring onions, parsley, mint, and lemons from our garden. Heads up to parents—many students enjoyed it! Vegetables for the win!

School Fair

We will have a bake stall filled with freshly baked treats for our school fair. If any families would like to contribute to the stall, please email Miss Macris by Wednesday the 13th, specifying what you would like to contribute. Thank you.

Garden News

Its a wonderful time of the year to learn all  about pollination. While hundreds of flowers start to grow in our spring garden, we"ve enjoyed spotting the many bees buzzing around, flying from one flower to another.

Our preps enjoyed learning about the parts of a plant, they were able to identify a plants - Stem, petals, leaves and roots.  We especially enjoyed showing Ziggy our tallest pink flower in the garden.

Its also been the time to pick the last of some very small carrots, Galaxy & Mystery have enjoyed their  otrange snacks.

A big thanks to Remmi who helps out our junior  gardeners like Ava to hold and pat Ruby the chook.

Year 3 & 4ś have had a great session in the garden planting new beans and making rosemary remembrance bunches.  A special helper joined us as well. Leannes first time holding Ruby the chook.

Happy  Gardening
