Invitation - 5/6 Living Museum Fri 8th November
As part of their 'Ímpact' Integrated Unit, the Grade 5/6 students have been investigating Natural Disasters in Australia.
To present their learning, they have worked in small groups to research and create a living museum exhibit. The exhibit needed to include the following information:
- The type of Natural Disaster you researched
- When and where did the Natural Disaster occur
- What caused this Natural Disaster to Occur
- What was the impact of the Disaster on the environment?
- What was the impact of the Disaster on people and communities?
- How did communities respond to this Natural Disaster?
A living museum involves students becoming a character who was involved in a historical event. When visitors come and press the button, the exhibit comes to life and these characters present their first hand experiences of the historical event.
The living museum will be open for visitors between 8.45 - 9.10am and 2.50 - 3.15pm on Friday 8th November. There will be exhibits scattered throughout the playground - so simply go and press the button in front of these exhibits and be prepared to learn something new.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Learning in 3/4
At the end of Term 2 , Cr Jane Addis came to speak to the Grade 3/4 students about the Local Government. The students participated in a mock council meeting where they had to vote on some specific issues. It was a great opportunity for our students to get a feel for how the Local Government works.
The students also had an opportunity to present Cr Addis with the persuasive letters they had written about issues important to them in their local area. Each student worked hard to include lots of strong, persuasive arguments in their writing. It was a fabulous opportunity for the 3/4's to feel like their voice was being heard by their government.
After listening to a small collection of the letters, Cr Addis took another 50 or so home to have a proper read through. This week we were lucky to get a written response from Cr Addis, where she addressed each of the points made by the children. You can read her response below:
Thank you Cr Addis for taking the time to read and respond to each of our letters. It is very much appreciated.
