Prep Excursion to Cranbourne Gardens – Monday, 18th November

On Monday, 18th November, our Prep class had an exciting excursion to Cranbourne Gardens. It was a wonderful day filled with learning, adventure, and exploration in nature. We started our visit by revisiting the four seasons, which we have been learning in our Inquiry unit, and how they affect nature. The children were curious to discover how the changes in weather influence plants and animals, and our guide explained how trees, flowers, and animals adapt throughout the year.Next, we enjoyed a guided exploration of the trees in the garden. The guide taught us about the life cycle of trees, from seed to full-grown tree. We also learned about how trees play an essential role in supporting the environment, providing homes for animals and improving the air we breathe. The children then participated in a fun scavenger hunt, looking for different items around the gardens. They were excited to find leaves, flowers, and insects as they worked in teams, ticking off the things they had spotted. As a little treat, each child potted their own plant to take home. They were so proud of their plants and couldn't wait to see them grow! It was a memorable day of hands-on learning, and everyone left the garden with a deeper appreciation for the natural world around us.

Scienceworks Excursion

On Monday 25th November 2024, 1/2A and 1/2B went to Scienceworks for an excursion. It was a very long trip, but I enjoyed every single second of it.

Our bus left our school at 9:00. I talked with Mrs Korparaal all way long. We got sorted into groups. I was with Macarius, Ethan, Imani and Lincoln.

When we arrived, we put our bags onto a trolley and started our activities. One activity was that we had to choose an avatar and hit the targets. The targets were shaped like hexagons. My avatar had beautiful, white wings.

We had recess. The eating place was special because there were sparrows and seagulls there. After we ate our snacks, we went to the Planetarium. We watched Tycho Goes To Mars and learned lots of constellations. One of the constellations was so obvious, it was the Southern Cross! We even saw a few planets that looked like stars! The best thing was that we could lie down on the chairs!

Then, we had lunch and finally, the very last activity: the place where we can touch and play! I found that place so fun. I learnt that when black holes collide into each other, they connect!

Our excursion was so fabulous. It was the best day ever!!!!

Science Works Excursion  (written by Gabby 1/2B)

Vroom!Vroom! On Monday 25th November, 1/2A and 1/2B travelled by bus on an excursion to Scienceworks to learn more about the Solar System and Science.

First of all, we went to a place called Think Ahead. It's basically predicting what might happen in the future and looking at the past.We saw lots of cool things such as car designing, robot technology and sound effects.

Next, we went to a Sports Area.We saw a rock climbing wall and I made it to the top on the hardest level! Our group saw a skeleton on a bike and we were moving the skeleton! We also went on a skateboard.

We had a break and then the time had come! We watched “Tycho Goes To Mars”. It was a show in the Planetarium about a dog who goes to Mars. Tycho needed to find water on Mars to get back home to Earth.

After that we had lunch. I had a tuna sandwich.

Lastly,  we went to an experiment and science place where we could feel and touch things and look around.

Finally, it was time to drive back to school.

My favourite part of our excursion was watching “Tycho Goes To Mars”.
