As the school year draws to a close, we take this opportunity to reflect on another successful and rewarding year at Highvale Secondary College—a year where our students have thrived both in and out of the classroom. The past few weeks have been no exception, with students achieving outstanding successes, exploring the world around them, and embodying our school values.
VCE Results 2024
Last Thursday morning, the VCAA (Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority) released the 2024 VCE results. Once again, our students should take great pride in their achievements. Our 2024 median VCE study score was 29, accompanied by an increase in both our mean study score (29.3) and the percentage of study scores above 40 (7.56%).
These results reflect the resilience and dedication our students have shown in striving to be their best, and we are incredibly proud of all they’ve accomplished. They also speak to the commitment, expertise, and unwavering support provided by their teachers—not just this year, but throughout their six years at Highvale. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported the Class of 2024 throughout their journey.
Careers and Pathways in Sport Study Tour
A group of Highvale students recently embarked on a two-week Careers and Pathways in Sport study tour to the United States. During this immersive experience, students attended a variety of professional and college sporting events, including basketball, ice hockey, and American football games. Accompanied by Ros Patti, our students represented themselves and our school at the highest level. We look forward to hearing more about their adventures when school resumes in 2025.
Orientation Day
Last week, we were delighted to officially welcome our 2025 Year 7 students. It was wonderful to see them forming connections with their new classmates and teachers. We hope the day provided students and families with a meaningful glimpse into life at Highvale and sparked excitement for the six-year journey ahead.
Our 2025 Year 7 students were guided and supported by our newly appointed Year 10 Peer Support Leaders, who generously gave their time to help the new cohort settle in. Their efforts were a fantastic example of our values—Respect, Responsibility, and Integrity—brought to life.
Staff Acknowledgement
We are incredibly fortunate to have an outstanding team of educators and support staff at Highvale. Their dedication and commitment to excellence play a vital role in helping our students reach their potential. On behalf of the entire school community, we extend our deepest gratitude for their hard work and care throughout the year.
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all our students, families and community members a wonderful school holiday break and we look forward to welcoming you all back in 2025. The first day back for students is:
