Hello Everyone,
Dropping off and picking up your child/ren
We have been noticing a number of cars double parking or dropping off and picking up their child in places that are not safe. When dropping off or picking up your child/ren, please remember to follow parking and speed signs.
It is important to park legally to provide a safer environment for children. Double parking restricts the view of drivers and forces children onto the road and obstructs traffic. If you’re unable to park legally close-by, please park a street or two away and walk to collect the children. It will also teach them about road safety.
All school speed limits are clearly signposted. Remember the times and slow down around schools.
Some of the fines include:
Exceeding speed limit by 10km/h but less than 25km/h - $395 and 3 demerit points.
Fail to stop and remain stationary at children’s crossing - $494 and 3 demerit points.
Use mobile phone while driving - $593 and 4 demerit points.
Although the fines are significant, the main focus of Police is the safety of the children and that of the crossing supervisors.
Please remember to be patient around schools. This will provide a safer environment for the children.
Emergency Drill
Within the next week or two, we will be having an emergency drill practice. We will be having a Shelter in Place drill which means we practise evacuating the whole school into one place inside the school. Our Shelter in Place area is the gym.
We practise emergency drills to help staff and students to build familiarity with emergency response procedures. It also gives us opportunities to identify any areas that may need to be changed or refined, that evacuation locations and pathways are practical and workable in different emergency scenarios, and that safety will be maintained throughout the response procedure.
Pride and Integrity Raffle
This raffle, to recognize all of the students who are attending school on time, will continue this year. This is to acknowledge the students demonstrating Pride and Integrity by being ready to learn each day.
Every student who is at school, and in their classroom, before the bell (9am) will have their name added to the class attendance box. So, if they are present on time, every day of the week, they will have 5 entries into the raffle.
Last week’s class winners were:
