5/6 Camp - The Ranch
Henrik (Chronological Summary):
I arrived at The Ranch around lunchtime on Wednesday after a bus ride filled with card games. The giant swing was awesome; I went to the very top and it felt like controlled falling.
Archery was tricky at first, but deep breaths helped me steady my aim and finally hit the target. On a sunset walk that night, we learned that the area used to be an ocean lake (so many shells!) and even tasted a salty plant. I gave Bilal props for sticking with archery, even when he was struggling. Students snoring in my cabin made the first night tough.
Day two was all about recycling art (I made SpongeBob's Patrick!), horseback riding and the flying fox. We groomed and rode three horses (sadly, no Rocky). Movie night and a better sleep followed.
Last day: We did crate stacking where we were suspended in the air in a harness and had to work as a team to stack as many crates as possible vertically (I got 9!). We then packed up, had lunch, and then went on our journey home.
Yug (Highlight):
Hanging out with my camp group was the best! Every meal was delicious. The bus ride felt super long, but the relief of finally arriving at camp was amazing. I slept great on the last night.
Chris (highlight):
The huge variety of activities, from the giant swing to archery, was awesome, and I learned a lot about resilience - our goal for camp. I had a blast with Henrik, Dhanush, Ayan, and Saed, playing word games like Word Bomb (and even having a quick pillow fight). It was a great experience overall, but I wish we'd gotten second servings at dinner!
Adhya (highlight):
Camp was really great! The flying fox and giant swing were really fun, even though lots of people were nervous. Sleeping on was hard because I was too excited and someone kept snoring!
