Congratulations Samara
On Wednesday 27th November, I was invited to the RSPCA Centre as a finalist for writing a non-fiction piece about how pets make our lives better.
When I entered, I got a name tag with my name written on it and a little picture next to it. After I got my nametag, I sat with the other finalists in the auditorium.
First, the nonfiction category winners were announced, and I won 3rd place. I was astonished to hear that my name was called out. I got up and said a few words about my writing. I received a trophy and a certificate along with an amazing prize. I held the trophy and felt proud that all my hard work paid off. The trophy had my name and grade engraved at the bottom.
Then I looked at my certificate but there was something at the back; a gift card that was worth $10. I thought, what should I spend it on?
After that a few more names were called out.
After the award ceremony ended, I came out and ate some snacks, took some pictures with my trophy and went home.
“What an amazing day,” I exclaimed as we went home!
