Somerville Central Christmas Tree Art Exhibition

Somerville Central Christmas Tree Art Exhibition

To celebrate the festive season, Somerville Central is hosting an art exhibition with local primary schools. Participating schools have each decorated an ecoboard Christmas tree. All Christmas trees are currently on display outside Target in Somerville Central.

The exhibition will be on display from Monday 18th November to Sunday 8th December. Students at Baxter have all contributed to the creation of Baxter Primary School’s Christmas tree, and we encourage our community to vote for their favourite design.

The school with the most votes at the end will receive a $500 Officeworks gift card.

To vote, head down to view the exhibition and scan the QR code to register your vote!

Please spread the word to family and friends! The more votes we receive, the better chance our school will have to win!

MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK

At Baxter Primary School, our community is conscious about our eco footprint. Baxter students have reused and repurposed donated wrapping paper to design this Christmas tree. The students wanted to recognise the large amount of plastic and paper waste at this time of the year by demonstrating a creative way to repurpose materials.

Each student at Baxter Primary School has also traced their own hand on scrap paper saved in the art room and designed a handprint to be included on the tree. Every piece of paper on the Christmas tree has been reused and repurposed! Students designed their handprints to symbolise how we have individual learners at our school, and we are all united and supported in the Baxter Primary School community. This is symbolised through the inclusion of every hand forming the leaves of the tree.
