Year 5

Hello from 5G

As we come to the close of 5G 2024, we have been focusing on challenging ourselves outside of lessons. Every Friday before free learning time, 5G sit down with their whiteboards and give the 1% quiz a go. Question range from thinking outside the box to looking at patterns in words and numbers. It’s amazing to see students that may struggle with reading, writing or maths, extend their thinking and do well on these logical questions!

To celebrate all the work we have done in writing, 5G have been busy creating a Dr Suess inspired book for their buddies. We explored many of Dr Suess’ works including Hop on Pop and Red Fish Blue Fish. The students have worked exceptionally hard to re-write these novels using all their skills in children’s writing from Term 3. What a fun experience it will be to share them with their buddies!

Bike Ed has begun again for 2024. Students this week have been learning bike skills such as how to stop suddenly, avoid obstacles, riding using signals and following at a safe distance. 5G, along with the other Year 5 classes have enjoyed getting back on their bikes and blowing the cobwebs out of their hair-ready for the bike ride on Thursday!

What a year this has been. From camp, to Footsteps and Transition Days to Leadership applications, the Year 5 students certainly have been busy! As we wind down for the year, we look forward to reflecting on the year gone by, while looking forward to step up, the Christmas concert, movie excursion and getting ready to be the big kids of LPS!
