Highlight
Selamat Siang,
This week, our Year 1/2 students engaged in meaningful, curriculum-based tasks as part of our school's reconciliation plan, learning about First Nations culture in personal and thoughtful ways. They explored a range of texts by First Nations authors, deepening their understanding of Indigenous stories and cultural perspectives. Students also reflected on our MPRPS Vision, annotating its visual illustration by identifying symbols from Indigenous artwork that they recognized. As part of the ‘Deadly Displays’ competition, the class created unique artwork inspired by these symbols and the story “How The Birds Got Their Colours”.
Another highlight was the creation of "songlines," during Mathematic. This is a traditional Aboriginal map that connects important locations in our lives, including home, school, and local places of significance. This activity encouraged students to reflect on their own connections to land and community, reinforcing the importance of belonging and identity. It was a week full of learning, creativity, and meaningful reflection on the diverse cultures that shape our world.
Have a wonderful week!
Emma, Suzie, Miss Shaye, Amanda, Miss Emmett, Kate and Mrs Seadon.
