Prep Learning Reflection
Week 9
Week 9! Can you believe it?
We've had a big few weeks since our last Newsletter. We've finished up with our assessments, reports are being finalised and students will be starting to reflect, refine and consolidate all of their learning from the year.
Thank you so much to everyone who attended the Art Show and Concert last night. The students were incredible! I hope it gave you a lens into the magic that the students are capable of and all the amazing creative talent we have amongst our community.
We'd like to send a big thank you to all of the parents too. Many of you helped your children practice their dance at home, supported their nerves and encouraged their bravery. An an extra BIG thank you and congratulations to all of the parents who braved the stage themselves. What an incredible idea! It was inspiring to see so many members of our community involved - I hope you all had fun too!
In Reading and Writing we've been continuing to explore Eric Carle. We've also had a go at painting and collaging to make art just like him!
We've started Unit 11 for SoundsWrite recently. This unit introduces sounds that are represented by two letters such as 'sh' and 'ch'.
In Numeracy, we've continued practicing subtraction and have been using the counting back strategy to solve take away problems! We've also been doing regular fact fluency practice and our students are becoming very fast with their addition problem solving! We have also been working with shapes this week and learning about triangles!
We also had our Sports Day a couple of Fridays ago! All of the students did incredibly well. They showed great sportsmanship and were amazing at giving everything a go! An amazing effort, especially considering the warm weather!
We worked with our buddies last week to make a Mega Playground! The students reflected on our time at Buckingham Reserve playground, investigated our school playground, designed a piece of playground equipment with safety and fun in mind, then our buddies helped up cut and construct our pieces.
Next week on Tuesday the 10th we have Step-Up Day! The student will find out who their teachers will be next year and spend some time in their new classroom with their new classmates! A paper slip will be sent home with the students to inform you of their classes.
We have our second major excursion for the term on Thursday the 12th and will be heading to the cinemas! Please make sure you arrive at school before the bell time to help the day run smoothly.
