What a remarkable year it’s been in Performing Arts so far! I’m beyond proud of the dedication, creativity, and passion the students have brought to every aspect of the program. From their outstanding work on various projects to their incredible performances at school events, they have truly exceeded expectations. Their commitment to honing their craft and supporting one another has made this year unforgettable, and I can’t wait to see what’s still to come!
Some highlights of our year in Performing Arts...
- Harmony Day performance
- Dream Big Music Festival projects
- Grade 5/6 musical production
- End of year festive concert
Can't wait to share the photos and videos of the concert with you all in the next newsletter.
Sport's Day was an incredible day as we saw all our Prep - 3 students show their resilience in the heat. We did have to cut it short but I was so proud of the effort on the day!
What a jam-packed few weeks in STEM! Prep students have been planning their idea and then using their plan to create an algorithm in ScratchJr. Students in Grade 1 and 2 have been using a similar process of breaking down the four scenes in ScratchJr and making a plan before starting. Students in Grade 3 and 4 have been working on a range of projects to develop STEM skills. Students in Grade 3 are learning how to give constructive feedback to designs to help them improve. Check out some of their work below!
Hola familias,
Over the past two weeks, our students have been immersed in fun and engaging Spanish activities tailored to their grade levels.
Our Preps have been listening to the traditional Spanish story La Ratita Presumida (Miss Little Mouse). Through acting, mime, and drawing, the students have responded creatively to the story. They've also enjoyed activities that help them recognize and name vocabulary related to pets and farm animals. A highlight has been learning some of the sounds animals make in Spanish.
Grades 1 and 2 students have been exploring the world of animals with the story ¿A qué sabe la luna? (What Does the Moon Taste Like?). Students have used this charming tale to complete guided spoken and written tasks. Activities like playing animal bingo, drawing animals using the shapes of their hands, and practicing vocabulary with our Spanish iPads have made learning interactive and enjoyable.
Grades 3 and 4 students have been diving into the vibrant Amazon rainforest, naming and recognizing different animals and their habitats in Spanish. To connect their language learning with real-world issues, students have started creating bilingual posters in English and Spanish about Earth conservation.
Our Grades 5 and 6 students have been practising their conversational skills with a focus on shopping. Students, in role plays, have been practicing asking for prices and expressing costs in Spanish using euros and three-digit numbers. We have also practise our Spanish language with bingo and card matching games.
Bravo everyone!
