David's Message
Dear Sunshine Heights Parents and Carers,
The end of term is fast approaching...
We have had such a phenomenal year, and it goes without saying that we are immensley grateful to our parents, students and staff for collaborating to make it so good. I thought a quick wrap up of our achievements would be a nice way to bring us in to the final weeks of the year.
As a community, we raised over $17000 through our Colour Run, which will enable the completion of our Outdoor Sustainability Hub (yes we need a better name for it!). Construction on this is happening next week! We introduced our amazing allied health team, and they have already begun meeting students and families, as well as setting up for 2025. We have welcomed new staff in the form of Miss Lenny, Miss Xue, Miss Ria in our education support team, and said a fond farewell to Miss Danna as she welcomed her beautiful baby boy to the world in August. We also welcomed Miss Cinnamon to our prep team.
During the year we partied with Miss Irene at our Spanish Fiesta, learnt heaps during book week and science week, and our students and families all stayed late for Twilight school. Mr Anthony and Miss Jasmine pulled our year 5/6 students together for an incredible production and we discovered unique talents in so many of our students as a result. Miss Aasta supported students to connect technology and sustainability with the Indigital program, presenting at Zoos Victoria for their Fighting Extinction Event. Miss Taylah coached our FUSE cup entrants to second place nationally at their competition on the Gold Coast.
Throughout all of this we have attended grade 2 sleepover, Grade 3/4 and grade 5/6 camps, gone on countless excursions, incursions and swimming experiences. We abandoned Sports Day when the kids started melting, and did really well with our Athletics performance at the regional events, making Mr Dane really proud!
On other pages in this newsletter you'll find the videos from Harmony Day 2024 and our School Production. A huge thank you to Reuben, dad of Ezra and Bea for his video editing work!
Finally, we enjoyed an amazing dance last night, and the first few photos are down below in the form of the teachers dance. We'll have the rest of the photos in a special page next Newsletter from the evening. I feel the gauntlet has been fully thrown down for a dance off between staff and parents - challenge accepted!! We also have to give a very special thanks to Miss Jasmine and Miss Aasta for their work over the past weeks for such a special evening. The quality of the dances, singing and artwork has been exceptional, and we could not be prouder of how they help every one of our little stars to shine!
Best wishes,
David and the Sunny Heights Team
