On Monday 11th November, the 7A students held a ceremony to acknowledge and remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country during war.
Humanities Learning Specialist, Ms Tsimilas led the ceremony with Anthony T. reading The Western Front, Cameron B. and Nathan L. reading a reflection of a soldier on the Western Front, and Diana K. reciting J.M McCrae’s poem In Flanders Fields. Assistant Principal, Ms Matthews read To the Fallen before all taking a minute's silence. To conclude the ceremony a wreath was laid at the foot of the Australian Flag and all the flags were returned to peak.
On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minute’s silence is observed and dedicated to those soldiers who died fighting to protect the nation.
Several students from Cheltenham Secondary College had the privilege of attending the Remembrance Day Service at the Cheltenham-Moorabbin RSL. The service featured several special guests who spoke about the significance of the soldiers who persistently fought for our country and helped to shape the country we know today.
We were also lucky enough to be able to participate in the ceremony:
From start to finish, we were moved and truly appreciated the meaning of this very important ceremony.

I was honoured to be given the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at the Remembrance Day Service held at the Cheltenham-Moorabbin RSL. It was humbling to be part of such a meaningful occasion, where we came together to honour the sacrifices of those who served. I was grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this moment of remembrance and respect. - Dominique Rault
