PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

As we approach the final two weeks of Term 3, Inverell High School continues to be a busy place, with our students involved in a wide range of academic, sporting and community activities.

For our Year 12 students, their time attending regular classes at Inverell High School is quickly drawing to a close, culminating in their Graduation Ceremony on Friday 25 September at 10:00am. This is an important milestone for our Year 12 students and their families as we recognise their achievements and contribution to our school community. At the same time, our Year 11 students will be completing their end-of-course examinations before commencing their Year 12 HSC courses next term. I wish both year groups every success during this important period.

A special congratulations goes to our HSC Dance students, with an outstanding five of our six students nominated for possible inclusion in NESA CALLBACK. CALLBACK showcases outstanding performances and works by HSC Dance students from across NSW. All five students received nominations for Core Performance, with two students also nominated for their Major Study Performance. This is an exceptional achievement and a wonderful reflection of the talent, dedication and commitment of our students. Congratulations also to their HSC Dance teacher, Mrs Alexander, for her guidance, encouragement and support throughout their HSC journey.

Our SRC students have once again demonstrated their commitment to serving the wider community through their involvement in Legacy Week. During their allocated collection time, our students raised an impressive $2,220.80. Legacy provides important support to the families of Australian veterans and service personnel, and I congratulate our SRC students for giving their time to support such a worthwhile organisation. Thank you also to members of our community who generously contributed.

Another wonderful example of our students supporting others was their involvement in Dream Cricket, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Inverell East. Thank you to Mr Mather and the seven students who assisted with mentoring participants and supporting the running of the day. Our students demonstrated excellent organisational and leadership skills, but most importantly showed empathy, patience and compassion while supporting students with disabilities to participate in a range of cricket activities. Their willingness to help ensure that every participant could be actively involved was a great reflection of the values we want our students to demonstrate both within and beyond the school.

Finally, our sporting success continues. Next Thursday, our Under 15 Girls Netball team will host Wee Waa High School in the Regional Final. Reaching this stage of the competition is already a terrific achievement, and we wish the girls and their coaches every success as they compete for the regional title.

With only two weeks remaining, there is still plenty happening across Inverell High School. I encourage all students to finish the term strongly and take pride in the opportunities, achievements and contributions that continue to make our school community such a vibrant one.
