Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Although there is nothing better than having our children back, learning face to face.  I must admit, that I am feeling sorry for parents as they have to wait outside the school to pick up their children.  One of the special things, about our school, is the warm inviting feel we have in the mornings and afternoons as parents talk and laugh together. Hopefully after next Tuesday we can be back to normal again.  Having said that, there are lots of positives happening at the moment!

Melissa Erickson

In a few weeks time we will be losing the brilliant Mel Erickson as she goes on maternity leave.  Lots of fun was had recently at her staff baby shower!  I hope you join with me in wishing Mel all the happiness in the world as she moves into such an exciting time!

Jess Lowe was successful in applying for the teaching position to take over from Mel and is already busy working with Mel and the kids in Prep B for a smooth transition.

Professional Learning

On Tuesday of this week I attended my own professional online learning due to this year’s principal conference being cancelled.  Some of the internationally acclaimed presenters at the course were Professor John Hattie and Kirsten Douglas.  We pride ourselves on implementing latest research in teaching and learning at our school and the training was definitely cutting edge.   Whenever I share my new learning with staff they often run with it straight away and integrate it seamlessly into their already excellent classrooms.  That is one of the many reasons why I love working at our school.

100 Days of Schooling

This week marked a milestone for our preps as they ticked off their first 100 days of schooling. There was lots of excitement in the morning as they came dressed up in their old people costumes.  Very sad that the Prep teachers told me that I didn’t need to dress up at all!

 Grade 3/4 Camp

Our 3/4’s were meant to go on camp to Sovereign Hill this week, however COVID restrictions made that impossible.  Instead we scrambled for 24hours to get a camp up and running.  The grade 3/4’s are going to ‘Oasis’ in Mount Evelyn instead.  I would like to thank all the 3/4 teachers, Flick and Natalie for doing an enormous amount of work to get this camp underway.

I would also like to thank all the parents that have thanked the school for making sure our 3/4's didn’t miss out on going to camp.  We do really appreciate the kind and generous feedback.

Prep at Woori in 2022

In the next week we will be finalising our numbers and placements for Prep 2022.  If you are one of our current families and you are intending to enrol a sibling for 2022, please make sure you do that ASAP.  Our low class sizes in prep, our fantastic teachers, our friendly kids and families continue to make our school very popular.  Unfortunately the school only has some many places for enrolments.

I hope you have all had a good week and I hope that by next week we will again have an easing of restrictions.
