I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the College community to Chloe Baek who is the nurse working at Scoresby Secondary College as part of the Doctors in Secondary Schools program. Chloe works at Eastlink Family Medical clinic along with Dr Wesley Ko. Many of our students who have either visited the doctor’s clinic at school or had telephone consults with Chloe will have had the opportunity to speak with her. Here is some information about Chloe to help you get to know her further.

Hi students!

My name is Chloe and I will be a school nurse at Scoresby Secondary College coming every Monday. I have been working as a nurse for nearly two years now and really enjoying it! I finished my nursing degree in Queensland and moved down to Melbourne early last year. So far, I really love exploring all the beautiful places and cafes in Melbourne. During my spare time, I love spending time with my friends, playing games and racket sports. In terms of my backgrounds, I am originally from South Korea and came to Australia around 8 years ago. I have met really good people and enjoyed my life here. I am really excited to meet and talk to students at Scoresby Secondary College. If you need someone to chat about your worries or struggles, please feel free to find me! I am ready to support every student here. Looking forward to seeing you guys!

At the moment during remote learning appointments are occurring via telephone consults and these occur on a Monday.

There are also many resources available during this time from Headspace that can provide students and their families with some ideas to help cope with the current situation.

Headspace recommends the following 5 tips for maintaining a healthy headspace during this time:

  1. Be mindful of exposure to information through stories, traditional and social media. It can be helpful to take a break from the 24-hour news cycle.
  2. Do things that make you feel safe and connected, and be with those who are helpful to your wellbeing
  3. Engage in activities that promote a sense of calm and feeling grounded
  4. Our 7 tips for a healthy headspace demonstrate simple and effective things that can help people to create and maintain a healthy headspace, irrespective of whether they have been affected by COVID-19 or not
  5. It can help to talk with a trusted adult if it all feels a bit much.
