MINI VINNIES

Mini Vinnies has recommenced our meetings  on a Monday during first break.  If any children in Yrs 4, 5, or 6 would like to join us then we meet in the Music Room.  They are most welcome.

SOCKTOBER - We have begun plans for Socktober.  This is a major fundraising activity for Catholic Missions. These events generally take place in October, we will however finalise dates as we monitor Covid restrictions to ensure we get the optimum time to engage as many people as possible in our plans.  To begin our activities we would like anyone who has clean odd socks, old socks, any old bit of material they no longer need, to send them in to school.  We will place a box in the front foyer for anyone to place these clean items.  What we plan to do with them we will reveal at a later date!!!!

VINNIES WINTER SLEEPOUT

This year families are again invited to participate in the Vinnies Winter Sleepout , to assist in meeting the needs of Homeless and disadvantaged in our communities.  If you are able to join them on the 30th July, in your own home, that would be wonderful.  Some suggestions for ideas are:-

- Make soup together to drink to stay warm when out on your own sleep out/sit out.

- Sleep/Sit outside in the cold for a period of time, with only cardboard to sit on. During this time, discuss questions around how you are feeling, how the homeless must feel, as well as share some facts to raise awareness of Homelessness.

- Pray together as a family for those people in our community who have no secure, warm housing.

- Donate what you can.

All money will assist Vinnies in providing support for those in our community who need it the most.

MARRIAGE AND FAMILY WEEK

THEME: The Family - I Am With You

Next week is Marriage and Family Week.  Students will participate in lessons during RE around this theme.  They will explore how God is with us all through our families.  God is there in our times of quiet and peace, as well as disruption.  In families where there is genuine love God shows Himself to the family-members as individuals and to the family as a whole. So we can truly say that, for most people, God is with us always in and through our families.

We are blessed because we are taught “God is love” (1 John 4:8).
