Mr Garraud & Mrs Walters

Science

As you can see from the photos above Year 6 did a great job applying their learning in Science to solve the problem Mr Garraud regularly faces when he arrives home at night with his arms full of school books. It is too dark to find the key hole and he needs to let the family know he is home so that they can come and help him carry everything inside.

 

Students came up with a variety of solutions that included pressure switches under the door mat, metal shoes that would complete a circuit and one design solution that would automatically open the door so that Mr Garraud didn't need to put the books down.

 

RE Unboxing Videos

To conclude our Term 2 Confirmation unit students produced an 'unboxing video' This required them to identify the symbols associated with the sacrament and the fruits of the Holy Spirit that are bestowed upon those that partake of the this sacrament of initiation.

 

English - Informative

This term we are looking at how language is used to achieve informative purpose in the context of non-fiction texts. Students will also compose, edit and present well-structured and coherent texts that explore the 5 text structures of 

  1. Description 
  2. Sequence
  3. Cause and Effect
  4. Compare and Contrast and 
  5. Problem and Solution. 

Geography - Diverse and Connected World

Second semester sees History change to Geography. Students will unpack the big idea of 'Diverse and Connected World' looking at Diversity across Asia and The World’s Cultural Diversity this term. The students will study the continent of Asia and identify major geographical features in a variety of Asian countries. They will learn about geographical and cultural diversity by looking at differences in populations, traditions and daily customs.

 

Integrating English and Geography

In English and Geography, the students will culminate in a digital presentation that showcases their Literacy skills using their knowledge from Geography! The reading and writing skills of non-fiction texts and the content and skills of Geographical diversity will see the students create a digital tour using Google Earth Voyage creator.
