Art at Armstrong Creek
Our school Visuals Arts program is up and running and the kids have been loving it!
In week one, the students brainstormed how they could display the school values of ‘care, collaboration and commitment’ in the art room. They then experimented with and manipulated different materials to make a collage of their name. These will be used as the front page of their Art folio.
Over the past two weeks, we have been working on using a Growth Mindset in the Art room. The students also explored patterns and looked at techniques artists use, to create a ‘pattern monster’.
Each week, the students are introduced to a new piece of art. The students describe and examine the subject matter and also compare it with other artworks they have seen, or that have been shared in class.
Over the next few weeks I will run catch up Art sessions during lunchtime to allow students to complete any unfinished artwork.
At the end of term, your child will bring their Art folio home to share. However, if you ever want to come in and have a look at what they have been up to, just pop by after school.
Reminder: If your child is yet to bring in an art smock, please send it to school ASAP so we can get messy! Please write your child’s full name on the front.
