Year 9 - 10

Year 9 Focus Day

The Year 9 Focus Day, held at Cobram Secondary College on Friday 22nd February 2019,  largely revolved around the “Taking Care of Me” program which is a health promotion activity that focuses on building students’ knowledge and understanding of sexual health. The program is striving to enhance informed decision making, focusing on healthy relationships, safe sex and contraception, Sexually Transmitted Infections, safe partying and accessing health services. Students participated in small group learning activities, facilitated by professionals such as the Women’s Health Nurse from GV Health, Kildonan Uniting Care, School Nurses and Victoria Police.

Prior to the 'Taking Care of Me' sessions, the students participated in team building activities in the morning where we had guest facilitators Brooke McKenzie and Sam Wood from 24/7 Future Fitness and Leigh Stanbrook from the School Nursing team along with some of CSC’s own staff running fun and interactive sessions. In the afternoon the students worked with their own teachers on 'Respectful Relationships' activities as a follow up from the information they received in the 'Taking Care of Me' program.

Cobram Secondary College would like to thank all of the community groups who were involved in the delivery of this important program and look forward to running more beneficial programs such as this in the future.
