Personal Reflection for Term 2 Subject Reports

Clemes students have been preparing a personal reflection for inclusion on the Term 2 subject reports.  While the content of this is entirely at each student’s discretion, we encourage students to capture a sense of their growth and achievement for the year as well as their aspirations looking forward.  We remind students that the potential audience for these reflections may also include future employers, universities and residential colleges. The final deadline for students to upload reflections is 4pm on Friday 21 June.

UTAS/Old Scholars Pathway Evening

On Tuesday 2 July, there will be a UTAS/old scholars pathway evening in The Farrall Centre commencing at 7.30 pm. The evening will commence with a presentation from UTAS, followed by four of our old scholars sharing their experiences since leaving Clemes. This will include those who have studied both on the mainland and in Tasmania.

St Hilda's Residential College

Dr Holt from St Hilda’s College, The University of Melbourne, will be at Clemes on Tuesday 25 June at 10.00 am to give a brief presentation about life at St Hilda’s. Students considering applying for a college next year are encouraged to attend.

Small Steps Clemes Girls Sleepover 2019

The annual sleepover will occur on Thursday 4 July at Clemes to support the Hobart City Mission Small Steps initiative. All Clemes girls are invited to attend and can join us for dinner or stay the night. $10 from every ticket purchased goes directly to Small Steps. Parents/guardians are required to complete a CareMonkey form by 24 June which acts as their child's RSVP for the night.  Additional information on Small Steps can be found here. If you have any queries please contact Amy Harris

Clemes Climbing Weekend

Leaving at 4pm on Friday the Outdoor Experiences group will travel to White Water Wall at Freycinet.  Here we will set up a base camp and then engage in climbing, abseiling, bouldering and possibly swimming.  Late on Sunday we will return to Hobart for a 5pm finish. The cliffs are up to 50m high and plunge dramatically into the Tasman Sea. Whales are currently migrating northwards and it is possible that the group may see, hear and smell them as they swim gently past.

Refugee Ration Challenge

A number of Clemes students and staff are taking part in the Refugee Ration Challenge this week. They have been eating the same rations as a Syrian refugee including rice, beans and lentils. The money raised will provide Syrian refugees with food, medicine and education while helping to achieve safety, justice and dignity through Act for Peace's humanitarian response, sustainable development and advocacy programs around the world. We thank everyone who has supported our students and staff. To find out more or donate to The Friends’ School team click here.
