Principal's Message

The Department of Education recently confirmed that during Term 2 schools are to have an additional professional learning day for staff development. In line with our policy of trying to have these days tagged onto the end of a long weekend or holiday period, I have received School Council approval to hold this day on Friday 10th June. This will give families a very long weekend as the Monday is the Queen's Birthday holiday. Students are not required to attend on this day. Teachers will be working on data examination and individual goal setting for Term 3 and 4. Again, my apologies for the late notice, but this issue was beyond my control.
We were initially hoping that we would get a clear run this term for learning- but not the case! Our school, like many in the state, have been hit with a variety of illnesses- COVID, Flu and a selection of viruses. The state has a desperate shortage of CRT's (Casual Relief Teachers) and we are doing the very best we can to cover all grades and maintain a strong standard of education for each child in our care.
We ask that if your child is unwell in the morning please keep them at home as we are trying our very best to limit the spread of all illnesses.
On Monday and Tuesday this week I attended the State Principal Conference in Melbourne. It was great to catch up with colleagues after a two year absence due to COVID.
There were a number of keynote addresses including:
-Alignment, Engagement and Learning and
-Transformative Possibilities of Inclusion.
Break out sessions over the 2 day conference included:
-Social and Emotional Learning
-Non Verbal Behavioral Adaptions
-Leading Psychological Safety
-The Power of Education
-Staff and Student Wellbeing
-How to Create Inclusive school Cultures
It was along couple of days being back in the classroom, but I was able to gain some great feedback and strategies that will be passed onto the staff at Rollins.
Thank you to Daniel and Lachie for their support in my absence.
You may have noticed Mr Callaghan not being around this week and this is because he is participating in a leadership program that involves placement at Leopold Primary School until June 15th. We wish him all the best.
We are now hoping we have all our zone/ sibling Prep enrolments in for 2023. This will allow us to move forward with our planning and enrolment numbers.
If you wish to participate in a school tour please contact the office and chat with Meagan.
As the cold weather approaches children may need to bring a coat to school. The coat is to be worn over the school jumper or school jacket not instead of. If you wish to purchase a school jacket please refer to the school website/uniforms where orders may be placed. Orders of all school uniforms are delivered to the school every Thursday. If the size is incorrect they can be exchanged.
Beanies are to be navy blue in colour. Without the logo can be purchased from Target, Kmart etc. If you would like one with the school logo, they can be purchased at the school office for $10.
Reminder to parents that Term 2 finishes on Friday 24th June at 2.30pm. School returns for Term 3 on Monday 11th July.
Semester 1 reports will be on line in the last week of term 2.
At this stage conferences will be held on Wednesday 13th July from 2-7pm. Bookings will be available via COMPASS in the coming weeks.
It may be that we need to hold these via WebEx.
More information to follow.
Unfortunately we have noticed quite a few parents/carers who are smoking within school grounds and at the exit gates. Smoking in these places is a fineable offence.
A person must not smoke cigarettes including e-cigarettes (regardless of whether they contain nicotine) within school premises and within 4 metres of any pedestrian access to school premises.
Join us 3pm this Friday for our whole school assembly. Link below.
