Staffing Update

Head of Secondary Appointment - Mr Nathan Asher

Exciting news! We have appointed a new Head of Secondary. We were very pleased with the number of applicants that we had for this position and the interview panel reached a unanimous decision that Nathan Asher, currently a member of the staff at Sutherland Shire Christian School, would be offered an invitation to join our staff team as our new Head of Secondary. We are excited to say that Mr Asher has accepted our offer and he will commence his new role at NCS as of the beginning of Term 3.

A bit about Mr Asher

I have been involved in Christian education since 2007, being a trained secondary teacher and Chaplain. Most recently I have navigated a year group through the complexities of a COVID-affected 2021 HSC, and am currently the Year 7 Coordinator at Shire Christian School, teaching in both the Christian Studies and PDHPE faculties.  

I live in Wollongong with my wife Jess who enjoys teaching Prep at Calderwood Christian School. Our three young children, Will, Rory and Bella attend Cedars Christian College. We are part of St Michael’s Wollongong, where we lead a Bible Study and are regularly involved in many aspects of church life.  

On the weekends, you will find us travelling to children's sport, at the beach, spending time with our Bordoodle (Border Collie x Poodle) and trying to catch up with friends and family. I enjoy spending time working with timber– recently building a cubby house for our children to play in and some outdoor chairs to use around our fire pit. 

I am excited to join the community at Nowra Christian School. I am looking forward to getting to know and support the staff, students and families. I am passionate about Christian education and seeing the difference that can be made in the lives of young people. Please come and say hi when you see me around the school in Term 3.
