"Be The Best That You Can Be"

Year 10 Work Experience

Monday 20th June – Friday 24th June

The Year 10 Work Experience program will run during the last week of Term 2.  Although finding a placement has been challenging for some students due to employer restrictions, we have several students who were able to secure their placement.  Wheelers Hill Secondary College recongnises the challenges of the current Labour Market and therefore students who missed out on a placement will be participating in the Virtual Work Experience Program during the last week of Term 2.

The Virtual Work Experience Program offers students an extended list of exciting interactive work place experiences which assist with gaining valuable insights into a career interest area(s) and by doing so can assist students with their subject selections next term.

Career Action Plan Interviews

Over the last couple of weeks our Year 10 students have been participating in the one-to-one career conversation interviews with Michelle Mascaro.  Michelle is an experienced Careers Practitioner, and we thank her for her ongoing support of our students.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank staff behind the scenes who support this program on a weekly basis – Paula, Nick, Kellie and the student runners!

Based on anecdotal feedback, students are finding their session very valuable.  We encourage students to reflect on the conversation they have had with Michelle and more importantly to action their personalised ‘to do list’ which Michelle uploads onto their Career Action Plan.  Conducting career research can assist with gaining clarity into possible future career choices and in turn assist with VCE subject selection in Term 3.  If students require further assistance with this process, they are encouraged to make a time to see me.

Career Action Plan Interviews will continue until the end of Term 2.
