Group 15

To celebrate education week, students in Group 15 engaged in a variety of small group and individualised activities in the classroom through the Structured Teaching framework, the STAR program (Strategies for Teaching Based on Autism Research) and SWPBS (School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support). Monash SDS’s triangulated pedagogy provides teachers with the tools and strategies to create positive, motivating and meaningful learning environments for all our students. In these photos, you can see Group 15 students using the Structured Teaching framework to complete tasks independently, work with and alongside peers at student-engagement learning areas and work 1:1 with a member of staff to learn new academic content related to the Victorian Curriculum. During discrete trial training sessions as part of the STAR program, students are explicitly learning new skills in receptive/expressive language and academic concepts that are directly related to their ILP (Individual Learning Plan) goals. While participating in these learning activities, all students are ‘doing their best, helping others succeed and respecting their environment’ – sticking to our SWPBS school-wide expectations. Well done on a successful education week Group 15!
