NAPLAN Online Readiness Tests

The NAPLAN school readiness test is a ‘practice run’ and provides an opportunity for schools to become familiar with the NAPLAN online assessment platform and to identify any technical or administrative issues they may have. The school readiness test period runs from Monday 14 August to Friday 22 September. Taree Christian College will be conducting the tests for Years 3, 5, 7 & 9 on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th of September.

The School readiness test:

Is not an assessment of student ability and it will not be marked.
Has been designed to allow schools and students to freely navigate through the online test environment and to explore the format and presentation of questions.
Allows schools to develop and put into practice their classroom procedures, which will provide an indication of any changes that need to be made before NAPLAN moves online.
Involves all NSW schools who have passed the technical readiness survey.

Getting Toasted

We had an impromtu visitor come along and join us at "Get Toasted" on Monday morning 26 June 2017. Mr Bromhead was with us for the Awards Assembly and went to help Mr & Mrs Iverson at the Get Toasted stand, making toast for our students.

TCC Goes Electronic in Roll Marking

All staff at TCC now mark the roll each day electronically. Staff have been told that they can mark the roll on their computer, iPad or smart phone. Using the smart phone is particularly beneficial on the days we have our morning assemblies, as it is more convenient to carry a phone and also smart phones have roaming data that is needed when marking the roll electronically. So, please be aware that if you see a teacher using a smart phone during assemblies or of a morning that they are simply using it to mark the roll. Our teachers have their phones put away at all other times through the day and know to only use them in the event of emergencies or for educational purposes. The new electronic roll marking is a very efficient and accurate way to mark the roll and the system is working extremely well.

Music Lessons @ TCC

As most would know we currently have Mari Coleman teaching Piano, soon to come on board will be Alabaster Music School (AMS) who will be able to offer Drums, Cello, Acoustic Guitar, Trumpet, and Singing. We are very excited to be able to offer during school time these areas of tutoring. MidCoast Council's recent visit!

‘MidCoast Council has recently launched a new mental health initiative with resources on stress, bullying and resilience. Russell Ingram (MidCoast Youth Engagement Officer) launched the new resources at a lunch time event giving away shirts, stickers, postcards and promoting mental health. High School chapel in Term 3 is presenting a Biblical perspective on stress, bullying and resilience to support the initiative.’

Vaccinations

We have a new date Thursday 26 October 2017.

The visit is for Year 7 students 2nd dose Gardasil for those students who started at the first visit

(any students that started at the second visit we will catch up next year as the gap will not be long enough between visits).

Catch up for any students from Year 8 still outstanding and any Year 11 & 12 students that were missed on the last visit.

Important Reminder

Year 10 students will be doing their Work Experience Program from Monday 11 to Friday 15 September 2017.

Year 11 students will be sitting their End-of-course Examinations from Wednesday 13 to Tuesday 19 September 2017.
