Year 11/12

Message from Senior School Assistant Principal

Term 3 is always a busy term & this year has been no exception. The Senior School Students have been busy undertaking Deb Ball rehearsals, finalising VCAL PDS projects, completing SACs and looking at 2020 options.

Thank you to all staff, students and families who participated in the 2020 Course Counselling process. All current Year 10 (& some Year 11) students and families had the opportunity to meet with a dedicated course counsellor to discuss subject and pathway options, pre-requisites and VET courses. The sessions were highly successful and provided students with opportunity to discuss their future aspirations.

This term Year 12 students begin the process of preparing their final Careers VCAL appointments and Victorian Tertiary Admission Centre (VTAC) selections for next year. Current Year 12 students are reminded they must book an appointment on Compass with either Nancy (VCE) or Liz (VCAL) to discuss their plans for 2020.

During the September School holidays all students studying a Unit 3/4 subject will be required to complete a trial exam for each subject they undertake under VCAA examination conditions. The advantages of this practice include:

  • ensuring students utilise their September holidays for revision
  • opportunities for our students to maximise their success and results
  • maximising class revision time in Term 4 where teachers can address areas of concern in student performance and exam technique
  • providing opportunities for students to improve exam techniques and practices.

The exams will run from Friday 20th to Thursday 26th September and a detailed timetable will be issued to students shortly.

Finally, just a reminder that students who drive to school must complete the “Students Driving Cars to College - Parent/Guardian and Student Agreement Form” and attach a copy of their drivers licence. The form can be collected from the Year 12 Office.

Northern Territory Tour 2019: Highlights written by Sean-Carlos Menjivar and Saige Dupuy.

DAY 1 – FRIDAY 21ST

After a harsh morning wakeup call at 4am, all students were ambitious to depart to the spectacular Uluru. The sky was dark, chatter was among the students and excitement was in the air. Once everyone was ready, we headed off express to Uluru via Adelaide and Cooper Pedy. We journeyed through the night with many stops along the way, with many students struggling to sleep mean while they were those who were already passed out.

DAY 2 – SATURDAY 22ND

The morning was bright, the land was red and the scenery of the vast Australian outback was upon us. We took various photos at the Northern Territory sign we travelled throughout the morning to arrive at Uluru midday. It was at this time where students were challenged to set up tents and unload the luggage. It was spare-time until the evening, where we headed off to the Uluru sight where the Big Rock was clearly visible under the sunset. We were provided with spectacular views of Ayers Rock and many Instagram photos. After sunset, we headed back to camp, had a great dinner and headed to bed.

DAY 3 – SUNDAY 23RD

We travelled from camp up to the very road right next to Uluru, on set to walk around the Bi
