Campaspe Shire 2018 Youth Advisory Group

Application Guidelines

The 2018 applications for the Youth Action Group (YAG) are now open to 12-25 year olds living in the Shire of Campaspe.

What will you receive?

• The opportunity to network with – and learn from – other emerging and established leaders in the Shire of Campaspe
• Opportunities to influence community attitudes and decision making
• Briefings on major social issues, including current trends in youth issues
• Leadership training and mentoring

What does it take?

Responsibilities

• Attend, and actively participate in official YAG meetings
• Contribute to the development of campaigns, projects, strategies and events that relate to the YAG’s work
• Commit to projects and ensure agreed deadlines are meet
• Willing to work cooperatively with a wide range of people within the community

Personal Qualities

• Open minded and good communication skills
• Good teamwork skills
• Enthusiastic and supportive of the work of the YAG and Campaspe Shire
• Desire to make a difference in the lives of young people in the Shire of Campaspe
• Value diversity

Commitments

• Attend a one day YAG induction training on Saturday 20 January 2018
• Attendance at YAG meetings (eight meetings per year on the 1st Wednesday of each month during the school term 5:30pm – 7:30pm)
• Attend other training and development opportunities throughout the year as required and attend events as a YAG and Shire of Campaspe representative

Nomination Process

• Complete Nomination Form (parent signature required if under 18) & email to yag@campaspe.vic.gov.au
• Prepare for interview. Interviews will be undertaken with all applicants, date and time to be advised by phone in December 2017
• Successful YAG members will be required to attend a one day induction training in Echuca
