Primary Community News

Foundation (Prep-Year 2)

The preps have been having so much fun exploring different materials to learn about addition. We have used unifix, water play, and kitchen role play to help us understand how to add 1 more to a group. In writing we are practising to trace and copy the letters of our names. We have enjoyed using paint, chalk, highlighters, pencils and textas. We are learning to start and the first letter and write from left to right.

Lower Primary (Years 3-4)

The 3/4s have been doing an excellent job in their learning. They have been enjoying learning about our inquiry topic; living and non-living things. The 3/4 students have been identifying what living things are and exploring what they need to survive. We have also been writing information reports about living things in our writing. Students have been focusing on facts about guinea pigs such as where they live, what they eat and what they look like. They have begun to edit their work in preparation for writing their final drafts. The 3/4s also took a trip to Jumpside to practise one of our employability skills; to work together. Have a look at some of their amazing work and their time on their excursion!

Upper Primary (Years 5-6)

The students in 5/6 all work very hard throughout the term to show all of the Jackson School expectations and values, Learning, Independence, Responsibility, Respect, and Safety. We celebrate our achievements by counting our points and purchasing items with them in our PBIS store of prizes!

As part of our PBIS rewards, the 5/6 team set a goal to collect a certain number of points. The students had to save up to get a big prize! They all worked together. That prize was going to Jumpside in Footscray. We had so much fun!
