Principal's Report

Farewell for now...

I acknowledge the First Peoples of the Wathaurong, who are the traditional custodians of the land and waters on which I work and live, and pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

In my absence...

From next Monday 21st November, through until the end of the school year, we have a re-structure of staffing to accommodate my promotion and support our community.

There is no impact on classroom teaching staff and the continuation of learning for our students.

Kylie Nissen is our Acting Principal, whilst Sarah Bigmore will be the Acting Assistant Principal.  Our executive team also comprises Matthew Smith and Candice Skinner.

Thank you to all staff for their support and flexibility to ensure it is business as usual for everyone in our amazing school.

I would like to extend a huge thanks to the many parents, carers and students who have caught up with me to extend their well wishes - it is truly appreciated.  I wish you all well and look forward to resuming from the beginning of the 2023 school year.

MRK-6 Camping Program Future?

Next Wednesday 23rd November at 5:30pm in Kim barne Nitji (gymnasium), I am hosting a "Parent Open Forum" regarding the future of our camping program.

The Open Forum is targeted at our entire community, as it will shape the future of our entire Year 2 to 6 Camping Program for the long term future.

I implore all families be represented, as the validity of the forum can only be validated by a majority of our school community attending - that is, I believe a quorum is a minimum of 120 registered families.

Key information and options will be shared, before feedback opportunities are offered.

Principal class will inform the school community of our maintained / new school camping program within a fortnight of the forum.

Our school councillors have already provided key insights into reflecting their views and now it's our communities turn.

Our decision needs your input.

I hope to see you all there.

Exciting Events Forthcoming

Tomorrow night our Year two students are looking forward to our school sleepover.  Excitement has built, and it's almost upon us - students and staff alike will enjoy pizza, activities and a night together.  For many, this is their first experience away from family, so whilst there'll be some apprehension and anxiety, I'm certain the excitement and adrenalin will get them through a most memorable experience.

Next Friday we are looking forward to hosting a walk-a-thon and mini-fete.  Much planning has already taken place and students are preparing for both activities.  Thank you to our communications committee who have grown the event from an idea.  We hope to see as many families support the event as possible and make it memorable for the stars of the show, our students.

2023 Book Packs (re-run)

In 2023 parents will be asked to make a book pack payment direct to Radmac, as our preferred supplier.  Please note that payments cannot be paid through the school .

The book packs, complete with all student needs relevant to their year level, will be delivered to school, ready for distribution to children on their first day of school.

There are great benefits in our process:

  • pay & forget for parents ie no pick up required
  • delivery to school ready for day one, 2023
  • student ownership of resources
  • students can take home their own pack for labelling / covering
  • consistency of resources for children and staff; and
  • students only receive what is required

Further details are being sent home to families this week.

2023 School Fees (re-run)

At Monday's November General Meeting, School Council approved the 2023 school fees at $250.00, down from $300.00 in 2022.

The reason for the decrease is related to the aforementioned book packs being ordered from a third-party (Radmac).

In essence, parents are being asked for $250.00 per child + their book pack fee, which varies from year level to year level (range from $45.00-$70.00).

Contained within the school fees document (see below attachment), is the estimated costs for additional events throughout the year.

The most effective payment process is to set up a payment plan / auto debit via Bpay with our office team.  Please consider this as the most appropriate way of addressing fees and activities requirements.
