Principal's Message

Mr Forrest

Basketball is Flying

Well done to all participants who are involved in the college basketball 2 nights a week.   It's great to see the KLC come alive each week.   Keep up the great work everybody.

Friday is Remembrance Day

Everybody is welcome on Friday 11th of November at 11 a.m. to participate in a Remembrance Day service at the Wedderburn - Korong Vale RSL from 10:30 a.m.

A huge thanks to several staff members and the senior VCAL students at Wedderburn College who worked alongside members of the Wedderburn - Korong Vale RSL to conduct a working bee to tidy up the Wedderburn RSL grounds in readiness for Friday.   The dozen or so helpers cut grass, weeded, trimmed branches, planted garden beds and completed a general tidy up of the grounds and the nature strip.  Wedderburn RSL President Roger Patterson was very happy with the work carried out and thoroughly enjoyed having the students involved.

On Friday the Year 5 and 6 students will walk to the Wedderburn - Korong Vale RSL to participate in the Remembrance Day service.  All primary students have had the opportunity to complete a 'Pause, Stand and Reflect' Colouring Competition with the winners to be announced on Friday.   The winning students will receive a special college café voucher.   Everyone from the surrounding district is invited to attend the ceremony and stay around for a cuppa and biscuit afterwards.    If you can’t make it, please take the time at 11 a.m. to 'Pause, Stand and Reflect' and give thanks to all the brave men and women who have served our country.

*A reminder to students that the Colouring Competition is due in tomorrow morning.

Welcome New Students

Last Thursday afternoon we were able to welcome 10 new Foundation students for the 2023 school year and their families for a tour and talk at Wedderburn College.  We must admit there was a bit of fun to be had with Goldilocks and the big Teddy Bear in attendance. The new students had to follow a porridge trail to the College Café where they were rewarded with a teddy bear biscuit and some of Kylie's famous hedgehog.   The students then enjoyed a session in the classroom with Miss Tanya whilst the parents had an information session with Kerry & Janice.    A big thanks to the participants and all staff members involved.

School Camps in Two Weeks

A reminder to Parents to please return all permission and medical forms ASAP for the Year 3/4 and Year 11 Camps that will be held in Week 8.   With the weather warming up both camps will certainly enjoy the coast.

Parent Payment & Book Lists

In the coming fortnight all families will receive very detailed information on Parent Payments-Voluntary Contributions, Resources and Booklists for 2023. Please remember major changes occurred this year for Wedderburn College students in 2022. The following changes will be in place again for 2023:

  • Students from Foundation – Year 6 will have stationary purchased for them by the classroom teacher.  These resources  will be kept at school and distributed by the homeroom teacher.
  • Students from Year 7 - Year 10 will be provided with a basic individual stationary pack and distributed at the start of the year.
  • Students in Year 11 and Year 12 have the option to request a basic stationary pack or purchase their own supplies.
  • Senior textbooks can be borrowed from class sets or students can choose to purchase secondhand or new books if they want to highlight or write notes in their own personalised copy.
  • The provided resources will be paid for as part of Parent Payment-Voluntary Contributions, parents will not have to deal directly with Wattle Office Supplies.
  • The Parent Payment-Voluntary Contributions will be clearly explained in our 2023 Information Flyer.
  • Students and families will be required to pay for all optional camps, excursions and the school magazine separately.
