It's Electrifiying

Sassafras and Huon have been learning about electrical circuits as part of our Science Unit - It’s Electrifying. We have created a circuit using wires, batteries and a light bulb and created a switch to turn the light bulb on and off. We’ve also looked at the symbols used to represent the components of a circuit and drawn circuit diagrams using these symbols. Next we will be testing various objects to see whether they are insulators and conductors by adding them into a circuit.

Poetry in 5/6

In English Grade 5/6 students have been engaging in a unit of work on Poetry with Miss Doyle. We have learnt all about poetic devices such as onomatopoeia, alliteration, metaphors, personification, similes and imagery. We have planned and written poems such as limericks, acrostic, cinquain, rhyming and free verse. We found it difficult sometimes, but Miss Doyle made learning poetry easier to understand and lots of fun.
