Music Report & ADT Showcase

SCHS Music Update

Hey Cory!!

To kick off the new year of music, we brought back the long-awaited (drum roll please…) open mic!We saw an amazing turnout from our audience filling up the space all the way from the ground to the upstairs platforms. The support for our incredible performers was heartwarming to say the least, although not unexpected with the talent on display.

The school captains brought the energy with their rendition of ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ karaoke-style, making way for many more lively and impressive performances. A wide range of original bands took the stage and gave everyone some astounding lunchtime entertainment. Thank you to everyone involved, especially our wonderful music staff and student volunteers who helped to facilitate such a treasured event.

The following Monday saw a demonstration and celebration of the year’s work in music (alongside inspiring art and media, delicious catering by the food tech department and more) through the ADT showcase. Members of the school community were invited to peruse the displays of student work while our instrumentalists provided a lovely backing of solos, duets and ensemble pieces. The night concluded in a concert, the auditorium brimming with families and friends who were treated to performances ranging from our large ensembles (concert band, orchestra and guitar ensemble), to an entertaining solo drama monologue. Overall it was a fantastic evening and thank you again to everyone who came along to support the achievements of our hard working musicians.

Finally, a shout out to the junior year levels, whose participation in music events has simply blown us away, a congratulations to our year twelves who have shown unwavering dedication and should be extremely proud, and a thank you to the teachers who make all of this possible.

2023 is going to be a remarkable year for music.

Your music captains, Jasmine and Sara

VCE Food Studies Catering

The food served at the ADT Showcase was carefully prepared by our Year 11 Food Studies students under the supervision and guidance of our guest Chef Anthony.

The students worked diligently and meticulously to produce an array of delicious food which were extremely popular with all our guests.

Below is a link to a cookbook of all the recipes along with photos of the students in action if you fancy trying some of these recipes at home.
