Pastoral Academic Care (PAC)

Pastoral Focus: Junior – GRATITUDE FOR ENOUGH Senior – LESS IS MORE

Wellbeing Element: Positive Emotion and Gratitude

Character Strength: Social Intelligence

Parent Wellbeing: Having a purpose is the difference between getting by and making a life for yourself every day. It offers you fulfilment and the drive to succeed because you care about something bigger than you in your life. Purpose will always come from within, and will always be fueled by the belief that you matter as a person. Dig deep to live with meaning and purpose. What is your purpose? Year 7

Year 7

As I roam around the school checking on our classes, I acknowledge that there is a tremendous amount of quality work going on for our Year 7s. I will share some photos highlighting positive efforts.

Mrs Healy’s class focused on completing a literacy task focused on GRATITUDE. A few fine examples have been shared here

.

We have celebrated our school week with an ASTI focus and worked on shared resources with cultural significance. Students enjoyed becoming involved with a celebration dance. Our students were keen to be involved and did a great job performing the Kangaroo dance and song.

We have reminded our group about the need to “Tidy up”. As the year draws to an end clear expectations remain. Students have been asked to:

Be the best person you can be. Check in and Tidy up.  Check your books. Check your uniform and appearance. Check your language. Check how you relate to each other (peers and teachers) Check your environment (classroom and playground area) Check your work ethic.

With Life Saving week ( Week 9) fast approaching please ensure that permission is granted via Compass.

Year 9

Mr Mark Fulloon

With the end of the year approaching quite fast I am sure all of the Year 9 Cohort are wondering where this year has gone. I would like to think that with all that is happening with the Naidoc programme running this week students are immersing themselves in unique part of our Australian culture and being involved in a great range of activities on offer. A big thank you to Mr Russell and his team for all their hard work making this happen for our school community. In Week 9 students from Year 9 will be attending their excursion to Lake Keepit, this should be a rewarding experience for the students attending and a good way to see an end to a school year. I also would like to encourage all Year 9 to continue with their hard work in classes and finish the school year well, working to the very end in their chosen subjects and courses.

The Senior Retreat is quickly approaching and we are now asking families to finalise their attendance and payments, being reminded that participation at retreats is an important and highly valued element of being part of our Catholic community. All information regarding the retreat can be found on Compass but below is a quick outline of some of our key elements.

Students will leave OCC at approximately 7am on Monday December 5th, travelling to Collaroy. Tuesday will see students visit the Auburn Gallipoli Mosque, Hwa Tsang Monastery and St Mary’s Cathedral, with an opportunity to get lunch in the city. We will then head back to our accommodation for retreat activities. Wednesday sees us walk across the Harbour Bridge to Mary Mackillop Place, with lunch in the city before spending the afternoon together connecting spiritually and building our leadership abilities. We then travel back as a group on Thursday morning with expected arrival at OCC to be 5pm.

Can we please ask that all families register their students' attendance or inform the College of other commitments by Monday 21st November.
