Week 6 - Applying Feedback and Growth Mindset

As we move through the course of this term, students and teachers are engaging in a feedbacking process that is designed to both develop skills and encourage a growth mindset. With activities that are linked to learning intentions and success criteria, this provides a clear path for achievement with students. It is by engaging with both verbal and written feedback that focuses the process of the skill development. This ties in with student motivation - which at this time of the year can be challenging when the holidays are looming. However, with achievable steps to completing tasks, this can allow students to believe that they not only have the dedication but also necessary skills and information to achieve.

But what is a growth mindset?

Fixed and growth mindsets affect the way that people respond to challenges. People with a fixed mindset view a setback as a lack of ability whilst those with a growth mindset see the opportunity to expand their abilities and to work with others to achieve success.

It is through working together in applying feedback and understanding the steps to success that students can engage in learning conversations and how to move themselves forward.
