The School has received congratulations from the International Baccalaureate Organisation on reaching our 10th anniversary as an IB World School.
In his letter to me Adrian Kearney, Director of IB World Schools writes,
Thank you for your continued commitment to empowering learners to thrive and make a difference.
Your whole school community has shown incredible resilience in what has been a challenging 18 months for all. When facing an unpredictable future, education is our greatest source of hope; your hard work and dedication to delivering an IB education means that you are developing the next generation of thinkers, creators and engineers, who will be ready to solve society’s most pressing challenges and build a better world.
The challenges we have all witnessed over the last year and a half, have proved that we are one world in need of innovative thinkers who can solve anything by putting cultural differences aside to work together for the benefit of all.
Your ongoing commitment to being architects of learning has built your reputation as working at the forefront of education. We would once again like to congratulate you on this anniversary and accomplishment.
We look forward to continuing to work with you, to develop resilient, well-rounded young people who have the knowledge, skills and sense of purpose they need to thrive throughout their lives and contribute to making the world a better place.
I wish to extend my thanks to the Primary staff for their hard work and commitment to ensuring that the Primary Years Programme (PYP) flourishes at John Wollaston. Dean of Teaching and Learning and PYP Coordinator, Fiona Currey is to be commended on her outstanding leadership of the program for the past decade.
Congratulations to Science teacher, Chrisna Le Vaillant for being a Finalist in the United Nations Association of Australia WA Division 2021 World Teachers' Day Award. Mrs Le Vaillant was recognised for her outstanding work promoting and implementing sustainability practices in the School. Her commitment to addressing sustainability goals across the year levels augurs well for a whole school approach to managing our resources more responsibly and improving the environment in which we teach and learn.
The Primary and Secondary Instrumental Concerts are special occasions showcasing the work of our talented Music students. This week the concerts were held on consecutive nights. Congratulations to all involved and thank you to our 2021 Music Tutors, Arts staff, parent and student helpers and our Music Coordinator, Rory Marchant without whose energy and enthusiasm the concerts would not take place.
With good wishes.
