PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Carly Avery

Dear Parents and Friends,

It has been wonderful having our Foundation- Year Three students back on-site during the week, we are certainly looking forward to seeing our Year Four, Five and Six students tomorrow and Friday. I continue to be proud of the way our students have displayed resilience and flexibility throughout all the lockdowns this year.

Depending on further updates these staggered starts will continue next week, with the aim for all students back on site from Tuesday 26th October.

Student Mask Regulations

Yesterday afternoon updated guidelines from Catholic Education Commission Victoria (CECV) were sent through. A change in these guidelines is as follows:

For all school settings, the Victorian Chief Health Officer:

• Directs school staff must wear face masks while teaching wherever practicable, except where removal of a face mask is necessary for effective communication.

• Directs students in Year 3 to Year 6 to wear face masks when indoors on school premises, unless an exception applies.

• Recommends that all other children wear face masks when at school, attending an after school hours program, or when travelling to and from school on public transport, taxis or rideshare vehicles.

We ask that parents of students in Years 3-6 send face masks to school with your Year 3-6 child and practice the correct way to wear them. Face shields, scarves or bandanas do not meet these requirements.

There are a number of lawful reasons for not wearing a face mask, including for staff and students who are unable to wear a face mask due to the nature of their disability, medical or mental health condition.

Vaccinations

At this stage, I am still continuing to receive information regarding staff and visitor vaccinations. All staff are required to show evidence of vaccination or a booking by this Friday. I will share further information regarding parent vaccination status as it comes to hand.

We ask that you continue to contact the school via phone or email, entry via the office when necessary. QR codes and hand sanitiser at the front entrance. From next Monday any visitors onsite will be required to be vaccinated, again more information on this is to come.

Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation

Please note that this date has been changed to Sunday 14th November, 8:30 am due to current restrictions. We will share more information in the coming week as to what we expect this to look like with numbers etc.

Fun Fridays

This Friday we will begin fun Fridays, keeping in mind the year 3's will be remote learning for the next two Fridays. This Friday will be crazy hair day and next Friday will be emoji bingo.
