YEAR 7 NEWS
Jacinta Eales
Year 7 Assistant Coordinator
As the first term of 2016 draws to a close we have some exciting things happening in Year 7. Our school athletics day was held on Thursday 17th of March and it was great to see so many of our Year 7 students participating and competing for their houses. Many students also got into the house spirit by wearing clothes in their house colour and cheering on their fellow house members.
Congratulations to all of our Year 7 captains for 2016. Students were selected from each homegroup to represent the school in one of four areas. The captains are as follows:
7A: James Clissold (Arts) and Jessikah Tidd (Academic)
7B: Oscar Pool (Sports), Abby Bellears (Cultural) and Ethan Klein (Arts)
7C: Dylyn Treloar (Sports), Georgia Kitchen (Academic) and Keily McKee (Arts)
7D: Taylah Clough (Academic), Conner Thynne (Cultural) and Ryley Lumley (Sports)
7E: Matthew Jelenic (Sports) and Jordyn Hynes (Cultural)
7F: Brylei Wiese (Sports) and Mikayla Tedford (Arts)
Congratulations to our overall captains for 2016, Eryn Finn (7C) and Tyler Edwards (7C). They will represent the school in the Cultural and Academic areas respectively.
A reminder that all Year 7 students have an excursion to Rippleside Park in the last week of term (Tuesday 22nd of March), along with the rest of the Junior Sub-School. Students will be provided with a barbeque lunch and have the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun games and activities. This will be a great opportunity for all students to build relationships with their peers and their teachers.
I’d like to say a big thank-you to all the students who are wearing the correct school uniform on a consistent basis. As the weather starts to get cooler, it is important that students are starting to wear the proper winter uniform. In particular, girls need to ensure that their skirts are an appropriate length. A reminder that students are not to wear socks with any writing on them as they are not part of the school uniform. Students will be asked to turn down their socks or purchase a new pair if they are not plain black, white or grey.
Enjoy the rest of the term and have a safe and happy break over the holidays.
YEAR 8 NEWS
James Cowan-Clark
Year 8 Coordinator
It has been a huge start to 2016 and a massive term for the Year 8s. Already we have had the home group spelling competition which was proudly taken out by Abi Massey from 8C, the Teacher V Student soccer game which was once again won by the teachers and the 2016 Year 8 class captains have been chosen for the year. A big congratulation to Lily Davis and Abi Massey for being selected to represent the Year 8s for 2016. School Holidays are fast approaching and as the term comes to an end I would like to say thank you to all the Year 8s and parents for a great start to the year.

YEAR 9 NEWS
Tim Humhries
Year 9 Assistant Coordinator
2016 has seen the implementation of a new hands-on program, known as the Community Learning Unit (CLU). Students applied for entry into the program at the end of last year. The program aims to integrate practical tasks into the curriculum. So far this term the CLU group have; designed and built window-sill planter boxes for the food technology rooms, renovated a tired garden into a bustling vegetable garden and designed, built and painted a retaining wall for the vegetable garden. If you believe that your child would benefit from participating in this program, applications are available from the Year 9 Office.
Next Tuesday all Year 7-9 students will be attending Rippleside Park for a barbecue lunch and afternoon of sports and games. This is an excellent opportunity to further friendships, spend time with teachers outside the classroom and to end the term on a positive note. There is no cost associated with the excursion, and permission slips can be returned to the Junior Sub-School Office.
