Constance Coleman and Wanderslore

Constance Colman was an Art teacher and Senior mistress at Lilydale High School between 1953 - 1965.

Prior to her death in 1990 at the age of 86, she gifted her 10 hectare property to the ‘Trust for Nature’ group as a sanctuary reserve, to preserve the wildlife and native plants.

Artist, poet and teacher, Constance was passionate about the Upper Yarra Valley. She devoted her income to purchasing land in Launching Place which is now known as Wanderslore.

This year, LHS Year 9 Art students celebrated our '100 Year Anniversary' by using Constance’s poetry and Lino printing as inspiration to create their own Lino Prints. Their work will be displayed at Wanderslore on October 27, at the Trust for Nature Open Day.

UNEXPLAINED ABSENCES

Parents and guardians are asked to check COMPASS and approve ANY UNEXPLAINED ABSENCES your son/daughter may have for 2019.

Notifying the school of your child’s absence either prior to, or on the day that they will be away, helps ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and will fulfil your legal responsibility.

This system also promotes daily school attendance. Going to school every day is the single most important part of your child’s education, they learn new things every day – missing school puts them behind.

Please note, it is DEECD (Department of Education and Early Childhood Development) policy that all student absences are accounted for.

Students NOT returning to LHS in 2020

Parents and Guardians of students who are exiting Lilydale High School are required to complete and return an Exit Form to the School Administration Office.

We need to know if your child will be undertaking one of the following;

  • Transferring to another school
  • TAFE (Institute/Course)
  • Apprenticeship/Traineeship
  • Full Time /Part Time Employment
  • Seeking Employment
  • Other reason

Please note, before a student can leave school, they must satisfactorily complete Year 10 and until the age of 17, they must be in some form of full time training or employment.

Training options can include;

  • VCE
  • VCAL
  • Full time TAFE
  • Apprenticeships

Students wishing to leave school before these requirements are met, must put in a request for ‘Exemption’ to the Regional Director, in consultation with Lilydale High School.

Students in Years 10 to 12 will be required to have a ‘MIPs Exit Interview’ with a MIPs/Careers Counsellor prior to exiting.

School Reports

Once students are removed from current student records at the school, their REPORTS can NO LONGER be accessed via the Parent Portal (COMPASS).

Parents and Guardians are advised to print/download and save the reports for future reference.

Thank you for your assistance.
