FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome to Term 4

Term 4 got off to a busy start, with a number of activities and initiatives planned and underway.

October Arts Exhibition

Every year, in October, I am reminded of the incredible talent that we have at Lilydale High School.

The October Arts Exhibition is annual event that displays an abundance of art works that have been completed by students from Years 7 to 12.

Ceramics, photography, drawings, textiles, media, graphics and paintings are part of the work that has been produced through the art development process from concept to completion.

Congratulations to everyone who is exhibiting a piece  in the exhibition and thank you, to the Arts staff led by Sarah Hardy, who have been instrumental in providing opportunities for every student and for the extra hours required to set the exhibition up.

Year 12 – Nearly there!

This week, our Year 12 students complete their secondary education, thirteen years in the making.

These last few weeks have been a time of revision and ensuring that preparation for final exams is focused and well planned.

I would firstly like to congratulate our students for the way in which they have gone about the rigours of Year 12 this year and thank them in advance for the way they will conduct themselves throughout the upcoming celebrations.

Thank you to the Year 12 Coordination team led by Katie Wilson, for their time, sage advice and guidance of many students throughout the year and to the teachers, who go above and beyond to assist their students on a daily basis.

Thanks also to Katie, for her work in securing another venue for the Valedictory Dinner, coming up on Tuesday 3 December, following the structural concerns of our normal venue. Crown Palladium is the new venue, details are available on Compass and the school website.

Year 10 Formal

A great night was had by all at the Year 10 Formal last Friday evening.  Students looked resplendent in their dresses and suits, arriving in hummers and a range of other cars and modes of transport.    The dance floor was packed as everyone danced the night away.

Hearty thanks to the Year 10 Student Formal Committee, who worked closely with Coordinators, Jess Kilkenny and Head of Year 10 and Middle School,  Liz Nevins to organise a fantastic evening;

Thanks also to Sub School Assistant, Lauren Kelso for her organisation and taking the great photos that you will find posted on our Facebook page and on the Middle School page in the newsletter.

Centenary Celebrations

Our '100 Year Celebrations' are not over yet - we have the induction of a number of a alumni, into the Gallery of Achievement and the launch of the LHS 100 Year history book, coming up on Friday 6 December, 2019.

Please call Lisa in the Main Office, for details of this event.

Building Program Update

You may have noticed that the Reptile House has been relocated to the Main Administration building.  This has paved the way for the new Zoology Learning Centre and Administration Building,  that will begin later this year.

The building tenders are currently being considered and we expect relocatable buildings, to be taken from the Junior School area towards the end of this term.

And finally....

Thanks to Trent Silk, who stepped in to the Principal’s role, whilst I took two weeks long service leave.
