Term 2 Sports Report by Mr. A

April 28 – District Cross Country at Karkarook Park, Heatherton Captains: Eliza A and Joseph S

A tremendous effort once again for PPS. Eliza and Joseph were fantastic role models for the team. PPS bring the trophy back home for the 18th time. Congratulations to the 27 students who finished in the top 10 and progressed to Divisions. Five of the 27 students who competed at Divisions at Karkarook Park made it through to Regionals. Congratulations to Eliza A (12th), Christian B (3rd) and Eden B for qualifying for the 2023 State Cross Country Championships held in Term 3.

May – Grade 6 Winter Interschool Sport begins. This term Year 6 students had the opportunity to participate in one of the following sports: T-Ball, Netball, AFL, Volleyball and Soccer.

We had 2 home games against Parktone and Mentone Primary School. And also one away game versus St Patrick’s Mentone. All PPS teams were extremely competitive with the Volleyball and Mixed Netball teams just missing out on Finals.

Playoffs: Superb effort by the Mixed T-Ball team who played against St Marks in wet and slippery conditions. Unfortunately, the opposition made the most of the testing conditions and we finished Runners-up.

The Girls Netball team played against Kingswood Primary unfortunately, the rain made the courts unsafe to play. The win went to the opposition as they finished higher on the ladder.

Congratulations to both Boys and Girls Soccer teams for becoming District Champions. They have been well coached by manager Mr. Blacklaw who I hear was just tipped at the post by Ange Postecoglou for the Tottenham position. Division playoffs for both boys and girls will be held on Thursday 13th July at Aspendale Gardens Reserve 10am-2pm.

That’s the wrap for Term 2, rest up, recharge the batteries and start getting ready for Term 3 Mr A’s favourite term ‘Athletics’ and Footy Finals!
