O God, you bestowed on
St Anne such grace that she was found worthy to become the mother of Mary, who brought forth Your only begotten Son. Grant that we may be helped by her intercession.
St Anne: Pray for us
On Friday July 28 we will celebrate the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly.
This coincides with the feast of St Anne. Tradition holds that St. Anne, or Ann, is the mother of the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus. There is no mention of Anne in the bible. Non-biblical books from the early Christian centuries acknowledge Mary’s parents as Joachim and Anne. These sources claim that Joachim and Anne were childless for many years of their marriage. The angel Gabriel appeared to them separately and declared that they would in fact bear a child who must be dedicated to God. Hence, Anne became the mother of our Blessed Virgin Mary. We invite all our family members to come to our Mass on Friday July 28 at 9:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, following Mass you are invited to visit the classrooms followed by morning tea in the Mercy Centre.
Twelve of our children have begun preparing to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Along with their families they will work through the Steps in Faith Program to know that God always forgives and loves us unconditionally. We pray for Alannah Mutimer, Mac Laidlaw, Samuel Alampi, Elise Smith, Olivia LoPiccolo, Mia Serhan-Baker, Emerson Hudson, Brendan Powles, Grace Spittles, Vivian Hippisley, Olivia Talarico and Noah McConnaughie as they journey towards the receiving the sacrament.
Save the date: We have a Parish School Mass on
Sunday August 13 10:30am

HERE WE STAND
Australia’s now 122-year-old constitution still doesn’t recognise our first Australians; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It’s time it did. By voting “Yes” you’ll ensure that they are finally recognised in our constitution in a simple and meaningful way: through a Voice to Parliament that will ensure they are heard on the issues that affect their communities.
There are excellent resources on the Yes23 website including social media tiles, flyers and posters. The resources can be accessed here.
Loving Father, may your Spirit living inside us fill us with love, forgiveness and courage, helping us to become more like Christ your Son.
May we be a voice for reconciliation for generations. May we continue to take action for reconciliation, by repairing relationships in our homes, schools, communities and country.
